Mike Stratton
A
native East Tennessean and a graduate of Tellico Plains High School, Mike
graduated The University of Tennessee in 1964 with a B.S. in Education, and
received his Masters of Science in Financial Services in 1981. Earlier, in 1962, he began a 12 year career in professional
football. Mike played for the
Buffalo Bills from 1962-72 and was inducted as the ninth member of their “Wall
of Fame” honoring the team’s top players and officials in 1994.
He also played for the San Diego Chargers in 1973.
His insurance career began in 1963.
Mike
earned The Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation in 1969; The Chartered
Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation in 1982; The Certified Financial Planner
(CFP) designation in 1984; and The Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS)
designation in 1994.
Mike
has been an All-Pro linebacker; member of the Million Dollar Round Table;
founder and vice president of a local manufacturing firm; instructor for various
CLU, LUTC, and CEBS classes; president of the Knoxville CLU Chapter; president
of the Knoxville Estate Planning Council; and President of the Optimist Club of
Knoxville. He is active in several professional, civic and charitable
organizations.
After
being employed 16 years by large national and international insurance brokerage
firms - The Crump Companies and its successors, Fred S. James, Sedgewick, (now
Marsh, Inc) - Mike founded
Financial Solutions January 1, 1990. The
firm serves as consultant and advisor to many area businesses and
municipalities.
Jogging,
fishing, skiing, boating and enjoying the mountains and streams of his native
Monroe County are among Mike's leisure time pursuits.
